History of the Breed: Airedale Terriers were bread to hunt fox, badger, weasel, otter, water rat, and small game in and around
Northern England, specifically, Yorkshire and Aire. The name Airedale Terrier originated in 1879 at an agricultural show at Bingley,
Yorkshire. The judges were so impressed with a group of Waterside Terriers that they named the breed after the show, which was called
the Airedale show. The Airedale Terriers have been used in Africa and India on game lands. They also serve as Police dogs in Germany
and Great Britain. This breed has been very prominent in dog shows since the 1930s.
General Appearance: Wiry, and expressive. The Airedale is the largest of the Terrier family.

Height approximately 24 inches
Weight 45-50 pounds.
Coat: Smooth, hard, and wire-haired.
Color: Tan with black or grizzle saddle
Grooming needs: Med-high requires clipping every 8 to 12 weeks.
Temperament of Breed: Owners must be patient and have time to train. This breed is loyal, intelligent, has a sense of
humor, and can be very protective. Like most Terriers they are headstrong. The Airedale may not socialize well with other dogs.

Exercise Level: High, Airedale Terriers demand vigorous exercise such as long walks, running and swimming.
