History of the Breed: The Kelpie is an Australian breed of sheep dog that originated from the crossing between Scottish Sheepdogs
and Smooth-Haired Collies of the past. The breed is outstanding at herding sheep in Australia and in the mountainous areas of New Zealand.
These dogs are medium-sized and come in a variety of colors. Kelpies are used to herd sheep, cattle, goats, ducks, and other livestock.
General Appearance: Australian Kelpies are a medium-sized sheepdog, they are active dogs showing hard muscular condition and
conveying the capability of untiring work. The ears are widely spaced, pricked and run to a point at the tip. The eyes are almond shaped,
of medium size and widely spaced. The Kelpie is alert, eager and highly intelligent.
