History of the Breed: To reconstruct ranks of military dogs after WW2, Soviets imported working breeds from other countries, mainly from
Germany to develop a new breed. The Giant Schnauzer is recognized as the main stock dog with mothers that were Airedale Terriers, Rottweillers,
Moscow Water Dogs, Caucasian Ovcharkas, Newfoundlands and German Shepherds.
General Appearance: A large strong dog with massive muscles and bones. The head is large and broad with a well developed occiput
and a flat forehead. The oval eyes are dark and medium sized. The small triangle shaped ears are set high. The large nose is black.
The body has a deep and wide chest that reaches at least to the elbows. The loin is short with a well tucked up abdomen. The tail is set high
thick and docked. The dog is covered in a medium length tousled black coat.

Coat: A double coat, with a dense and soft undercoat and a outercoat that is from one to four inches in length and tousled.
